Bunker Supplies:

‘Bunkering’ refers to supplying a ship with marine fuels. Bunker volume requirements vary depending on the size of the vessel. We cater to everything from small crafts to the world’s largest VLCC (Very Large Crude Carriers). With our facilities and assets in Malta, IFS can provide marine fuels by truck alongside the port, directly from the terminal or in the anchorage via specialised fuel barges that enable ship-to-ship supply.

Ship-to-ship bunkering:

This method can take place at different locations, either alongside the quay in port or, more commonly, in the anchorage areas offshore. The Malta Port Authority has various designated safe anchorage zones specifically for marine fuel supply, accommodating all types and sizes of ships along the coast.
Given Malta’s location in the Mediterranean Sea, the island has become an optimal spot for easy, practical bunkering. Weather conditions and maritime traffic are taken into consideration by the Authorities, and the IFS operations team can plan for efficient and safe supplies throughout the day and at night.

Terminal-to-ship bunkering:

The bunker fuel is pumped directly from shore-based tank storage. Pipelines from the terminal to the quay allow for a time-efficient supply while the vessel is inside the port.

Trucking Suppliers

IFS has a road tanker capacity of up to 20,000 litres. We provide fuel delivery by means of trucks to inland markets across Malta and Gozo – including vehicle fuel stations, manufacturing and industrial sites and in ports to ocean-going yachts and fishing vessels. Via truck, IFS supplies automotive diesel and marine-grade gasoil.
All IFS personnel are trained to follow safety measures in accordance with directives from the local health and safety authorities – a further assurance of quality and control.
